Built in 1929, the Marine Building is one of the great Art Deco buildings of the world. Noted for its intricate detail, marine life murals, and exquisite elevators the Marine Building is the heart of the downtown core on the corner of Burrard and West Hastings Streets in Vancouver, BC. Over 400 images from the total holdings have been digitized and are available for viewing.
The 100 images in this collection represent the dream that Thomas H. Mawson had for turn of the century Calgary. Mawsons' drawings and town plans for a 'Vienna on the Bow' were found glued to the wallboard of an Eau Claire garage during demolition in the 1970's and were restored and housed at the Canadian Architectural Archives.
